Dealing With Disclosures

Our Dealing with Disclosures workshop provides professionals with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond safely and appropriately when someone shares an experience of sexual violence. The workshop explores the prevalence and impacts of sexual violence in Aotearoa, the barriers that can make disclosure difficult, and the important role professionals can play in creating safe and supportive environments.

Participants learn practical approaches to responding to disclosures, including how to listen without judgement, communicate in a supportive and mana-enhancing way, understand their role and boundaries, and connect people with appropriate support and specialist services. The workshop also explores common responses to disclosure and provides an opportunity to build confidence through discussion, scenarios and practical examples.

The workshop has been successfully delivered to teachers, community leaders, entertainment production companies, health professionals and other frontline workers across Auckland. Content and delivery can be tailored to the needs, roles and context of each organisation or group.
